Data Science Intern
In the summer of 2020, I worked as a data science intern at OhanaHealth. I was tasked with the responsibility of developing a recommendation system to automate the process of matching candidates to jobs they would be the best fit for. I was also tasked with analyzing user segments to better understand the user base.
- Boosted customer satisfaction by 50% by designing and developing the MVP of a knowledge-and-content-based recommendation system to personalize the jobs displayed to each user based on their backgrounds.
- Scraped the web for jobs under different industrial domains and used the data to train and fine tune a text classification model (RoBERTa) to classify each job based on the job description.
- Analyzed customer backgrounds through topic modeling on resume text data and used topic distribution per resume to create user segments and personalize jobs recommendations.
Student Consultant - Data Scientist
Auto-Insurance Company (Protected by NDA)
Led a first-prize winning team that created a predictive modeling system (spatial regression and gradient boosted) to predict the frequency and severity of losses due to hurricanes.
Above you can see a visualization that was included in the final presentation to show the difference between actual and predicted values of the frequency of losses.
The problem statement was to extract insights from a survey collection process and identify surveyors that were not following protocol and the causes of behind such behavior.
Created a dashboard (FlexDashboard) to visualize aberrant surveyor behavior and conducted a statistical analysis to understand the causes behind said behavior.
Research Data Scientist
Developed a dashboard that read in survey data from 20 Latin American countries over the past 16 years and helped visualize trends in political stances and other measurable social factors.
